T-DCA: Tiered Dollar-Cost Averaging

T-DCA (Tiered DCA) is how Blitz's ready-to-run DCA presets are built: a finite, pre-planned ladder of price-triggered entries with tiered sizing, an averaged entry price and a take-profit resting on the exchange. Blitz also runs DCA ladders you set up yourself.

Blitz Strategy

What is T-DCA?

Tiered DCA places entries at price levels instead of on a schedule, and the base ladder reserves more capital for deeper entries, so the average entry falls faster in a deep drop.

More Capital for Deeper Tiers

In the base T-DCA ladder, more capital is reserved for lower price tiers.

The base T-DCA ladder commits less capital at the first tiers and more at deeper ones. The published BTC preset, Front Heavy, then adds extra weight to the earliest tiers of that base — a tuned variant of the standard ladder. Ladders you build yourself do not have to follow either shape.

💧

Early Stage

Minimal capital consumption during shallow volatility (10-40 units).

🔥

Deep Crash

Deeper tiers carry a larger share of capital in the base ladder, so a deep drop moves the average entry the most.

📉

Price Compression

Forcefully pulls down average purchase price at market bottoms.

🛡️

Liquidation Buff

Lower entries significantly distance the portfolio from liquidation levels.

Dynamic Exit

A T-DCA ladder does not wait for a full recovery: its take-profit is measured from the average entry, which falls as more tiers fill.

Early Exit

As more tiers fill, the average entry falls and the take-profit moves down with it, so a partial rebound can close the cycle — how much depends on the preset and the move.

Core Operating Principles

Anti-Calendar

Time is irrelevant. Only price action triggers capital deployment.

Volatility Scaling

Capital exposure scales logarithmically with market distress.

Efficient Exits

The take-profit follows the average entry down, so a partial rebound can close the cycle.

Systematic Edge

Rules set before the first order — the BTC preset is backtested since January 2021.

T-DCA — frequently asked questions

What is T-DCA?

T-DCA stands for Tiered Dollar-Cost Averaging. It is a structured form of DCA: instead of buying a fixed amount on a fixed schedule, it pre-plans a finite ladder of price-triggered entries with tiered sizing, tracks the averaged entry price, and keeps a take-profit order resting on the exchange. Every tier is known before the first order is placed.

What does the "T" in T-DCA stand for?

Tiered. Each entry in the ladder has its own trigger price and its own size. In the base T-DCA ladder, later tiers are larger than earlier ones, so more capital is deployed after price has already fallen rather than spread evenly over time. That is the difference from time-based DCA, which buys the same amount at the same interval regardless of price.

How is T-DCA different from a regular DCA bot?

A typical DCA bot either buys on a schedule or keeps adding safety orders as price falls. T-DCA fixes the ladder in advance — the number of tiers, the gap between them and the size of each tier — so the maximum position is known from the start, and it exits with a take-profit order placed on the exchange rather than on a timer. It does not remove market risk: a leveraged position can still lose if price keeps falling past the last tier.

Which tools support T-DCA trading?

Blitz Trading is a DCA trading bot whose ready-to-run presets are built on T-DCA. It ships ready-to-run T-DCA strategies that you can copy and edit, a free in-app backtester that replays your settings (long setups) on 1-minute candles for curated symbols (up to a year where data is available), and a 3-day Bybit demo (paper-trading) trial on a Bybit account opened through the Blitz link — all running on your own exchange account: one-click OAuth on Bybit, Gate.io, KuCoin and Bitget, a manually created API key on BingX, and a wallet connection on Hyperliquid. Other DCA bots can approximate a tiered ladder with safety orders; check whether their ladder is finite and where the exit order lives.

Ready-to-run or your own

Choose a strategy. Make it your own.

Blitz offers multiple ready-to-run T-DCA presets. Copy and edit any of them, or build your own DCA ladder, then backtest your settings (long setups) free in the app with no plan-gated lookback and no monthly run quota.

Choose from multiple strategies with entry ladders, sizing, take-profit and risk settings already configured. Each strategy can be copied and edited.

Your own DCA ladder

Or build a ladder your way

Build your own strategy or edit a copy of a preset: change the symbol, direction, leverage, entries (the gap and size of each), take-profit and stop-loss. Your ladder does not have to be tiered. Availability and valid ranges can vary by market, venue, and template.

Custom settings are not automatically covered by the reported U75 result. Changing inputs changes the risk and expected behavior.
